Winning Story of Hackon2.0

Hello everyone, myself Aritra Kumar Basu, I and my team members Gautami Sinha and Soham Sarkar took part in HackOn 2.0, a virtual hackathon of 48 hours hosted on HackerEarth. There were 4 tracks to choose from and we choose ‘COVID-19 Impact’ track as this is the need of the hour, after brainstorming for about 5 hours we came to a conclusion that according to India’s current scenario COVID-19 problems can be solved by two ways one is by vaccinating the people, which our Government is already taking care of and another is by providing proper medical facilities to covid patients.

Few days back, one of my friend’s father was covid affected and his family doctor suggested them to take rest at home but things got worst, his father’s SPO2 dropped to 40 and even after utilizing each and every resources and acquaintances he was not able to find a bed in any hospital. After wasting 2 days he was finally able to arrange one bed in a hospital with a lot of stress and trouble but it was too late and we lost him. This incident shook us from inside and we all wanted to create a solution so that no one ever has to face this kind of trauma.

We took a step ahead and participated in HackOn 2.0 to create the solution of this problem, there we built “ApCoBed : Apkeliye Covid Bed”. It has each and every functionality a user needs in these hard times such as :

Booking a COVID bed

There are thousands of places to know where covid-19 beds are available but there is no centralized system for booking those at the ease of your house. Why will you roam around the city to get a bed when you can book a bed for your patient just from your mobile. Our app does let you do this, it gets the patient’s current location and asks for some basic information from them, then notifies the nearest hospitals about the emergency if they agree to accept the patient then beds get booked for the patient. It’s as easy as booking a cab.

Get resources that you need the most!

Being a covid-19 patient or having covid-19 symptoms is terrifying but the thing that terrifies you the most is when you don’t know where to get essential covid-19 supplies like oxygen, plasma, etc. . In our app you can always get details of these type of services and contact them

Queries to conquer!

You have already overcome COVID-19 problem. That’s great news but you still have unanswered queries, right? That’s why we have doctors on our platform too who will answer all your questions.

Still have that weakness?

We can understand that a covid-19 patient becomes very weak and they need good healthy food for quick recovery. That’s why we have listed all the organizations providing free food for covid-19 patients. We’ll never let you feel bad!!

Get Help, Help Others

One of the biggest problems with COVID-19 medical assistance is expense, it literally costs lakhs if you are in a private hospital. Also, post covid-19 expenses are way more than COVID-19 medical bills, we know that you need help at this moment to pay off bills so we added an fundraiser functionality where you can raise funds when you need them or give back the help when others need it.

Traffic is the enemy!

We understand that when you are very tensed about your patient’s health and in a hurry towards the hospital, traffic can literally become the biggest enemy of yours in the world. That’s why we gave a super power to hospitals that whenever they think that a patient is in danger and needs to be admitted as soon as possible they can alert the police to create a green corridor so your patient is in safe hands before it’s too late.
